Greenwich, London 2025
This project involves a large rear extension to a semi-detached property in Greenwich, designed to transform the ground floor layout to better support the needs of a growing family. The client brief focused on creating a significantly larger kitchen and a dedicated utility room, with the additional requirement of a separate external entrance serving the utility space to improve everyday functionality.
The existing internal arrangement was constrained and no longer suited to family life, with a kitchen that was limited in size and poorly connected to the garden. The proposed extension reconfigures the ground floor to create a generous, open and practical kitchen-dining space, supported by a well-located utility room that helps to reduce clutter and improve circulation throughout the home.
A key design driver was to strengthen the relationship between the new living spaces and the rear garden. This is achieved through the introduction of oversized glazing and a large sliding door, maximising views, daylight penetration, and access to the outdoor space. The result is a light-filled, flexible family environment that enhances both the usability of the home and its connection to the garden.
